PROBLEM STATEMENT

How might we help transportation managers, such as those in local governments, delivery services, and public agencies, create adaptable plans using real-time and historical data to achieve key goals like reducing costs, improving efficiency, and meeting sustainability targets?

RESEARCH & INSIGHTS

To begin the research phase, I conducted user interviews to identify pain points in existing technology and explore areas for improvement.

Research Insights Board
๐Ÿ˜•

Complicated navigation just slows users down.

"The current system's layout feels overwhelming and disorganized, making it challenging for users to locate essential features."

๐Ÿ“Š

Data visualization is super helpful for users!

"Operators need visuals to better interpret data and make informed decisions effectively."

โฐ

Real-time updates are vital for flexibility

"Timely alerts enable operators to react swiftly to unforeseen changes."

USER FLOW

After identifying and synthesizing the pain points I came up with this user flow.

FINAL DESIGN

Input Variable Screen

Input variable onboarding

Solution: users has two primary options to upload their data either manual or csv file

Pain point: By giving users both options, this interface ensures accessibility and caters to varying levels of technical expertise and use cases.

Simulation selection dashboard

Solution: users can choose various pre-built simulations such as Carbon Emission, Deployment Costs, Worker Policies, and Market Profitability.

Pain point: This screen addresses decision fatigue by providing a clear, personalized interface with categorized options and search functionality to simplify simulation selection.

Real-time Dashboard

Real-Time Insights

Solution: provide dynamic visualizations, actionable insights, and clear summaries to help users monitor performance, identify inefficiencies, and make informed decisions to reduce carbon emissions.

Pain point: Users struggle to track and interpret emission data efficiently, making it difficult to optimize fleet operations and meet sustainability goals.

LEARNINGS: IF I HAD MORE TIME, HERE'S WHAT I WOULD FOCUS ON NEXT

๐Ÿงช

User Testing

To refine and validate the product, I would conduct extensive user testing sessions. These would focus on identifying pain points, usability gaps, and opportunities to enhance the overall experience, ensuring that the solution aligns with user needs and expectations.

๐Ÿ”ฌ

Extensive User Research

Building a deeper understanding of user behavior, motivations, and context is crucial. I would focus on ethnographic studies, interviews, and surveys to gather actionable insights that could guide further iterations of the product.

CONCLUSION

Working with SWITCH on their new product was a fantastic experience! It certainly presented a learning curve, particularly with the time difference and language barriers since they're a startup from abroad. However, I believe this journey has equipped us with valuable insights and skills. While the project didn't launch due to the CEO and his team focusing on fundraising, I'm optimistic that this will pave the way for even greater opportunities in the future!
